A concrete driveway cracks, sinks at one end, or lifts where roots got under it. Driveway removal takes the whole thing out. The excavator breaks the slab into pieces it can lift, and the trucks haul them off. You are left with bare ground, rough graded and ready for whoever pours the new one.
Patios, walkways and private sidewalks come out the same way. So do pool decks, front steps and the pad under an old carport. When concrete sits close to a house or a fence, the machine works in smaller bites. That keeps the breakage inside the line you want.
A driveway that meets a public road is a second question. Hillsborough County requires a permit to do construction work in its right of way. Driveway connections have their own application there. We check who owns the strip between your property line and the pavement before we start.
Slab removal turns up on lots where the building is already gone. A shed, a carport or a mobile home comes off and the concrete pad stays. Footers, block stem walls and buried foundation walls stay too. We dig those out with the excavator and load the pieces into the truck.
Most houses around Tampa Bay sit on a concrete slab poured on the ground. The edges are thicker where the walls sat, and there is usually wire mesh or rebar inside. Steel makes the concrete come up in sheets instead of loose chunks. It leaves with the rest of the load.
If the house is still standing, that is a full house teardown and the slab comes out with it. When a pool is on the lot, the shell and its deck can go in the same job. Concrete removal on its own suits the lot where the building is already down.
Every job starts with a look at the concrete. We check the thickness at a broken edge, the square footage, and how close a truck can back in. Access drives more of the work than people expect. Estimates are free.
We contact Sunshine 811 before we break ground. Florida law asks for notice not less than 2 full business days before any excavation or demolition. The utilities then mark their lines on the ground. Those marks are good for 30 calendar days, so we keep the work inside that window.
Then the excavator breaks the concrete and loads it into dump trucks and trailers. Broken concrete goes to construction and demolition recycling or disposal facilities. It is the same run we make on job site debris hauling. When the concrete is gone we rough grade the spot, and deeper dirt work and grading can be added on.

Hillsborough County requires a demolition permit, and it wants utility sign-offs before it issues one. A licensed asbestos inspector surveys the buildings the state rule covers. We work around the permit and the survey, and we confirm what your address needs.
The excavator comes in and the structure comes down. Anything you are keeping stays protected while that happens. Debris goes into dump trucks and trailers as we work.
The last loads go out, and the slab and foundation go with them when you want them gone. We grade the ground so the lot sits level. Then you have a lot you can build on, sell or use.
